Orientation Modules: Introduction
The objective of the New Faculty Orientation modules is to provide you with a greater awareness and understanding of UF/IFAS Extension and help you become a highly effective professional Extension educator. These modules are specially designed for new UF/IFAS Extension faculty, enabling a quicker, more efficient orientation.
All topics are designed as separate modules that faculty can review on an individual basis, leading to a more thorough understanding of the Florida Extension organization. Extension: A Resource and Educational Network is a twenty-minute introductory video that streams using RealPlayer. If you do not have RealPlayer, you can download it for free.
The educational modules are grouped into four categories. The suggested sequence is to start with the General Topics modules, followed by Policies and Procedures, Extension Programming, and Personal Growth. New faculty should start working on these modules within the first few days of employment. For greatest benefit, all modules should be reviewed within the first three months of employment.
At the end of most modules, there are review questions to help you assess your understanding of the topic and--most importantly--help you apply the information to your Extension program. If you find that you are not sure of the answers to these questions, review the module again or discuss the questions with your CED or DED.

Note for New Faculty: Completing these web-based faculty orientation modules is an integral part of your Extension professional development program. As you complete each module, note the date of completion on the list of Faculty Orientation Modules included in your Extension Faculty Handbook. Your CED/DED will be signing off on this to ensure that each module was reviewed and that review questions were adequately answered.
