In-service Training Tutorial: Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when you register for a program?

If you are county faculty, when you register for a program, an e-mail message is sent to your DED telling him/her that you have made a request. The DED will then go into the administrative level of the in-service delivery system and approve or deny your request. You will receive an e-mail message back telling you that the program has been approved or denied. Also, proper changes in status will automatically occur on your individual program schedule screen.

If you are on-campus faculty, you will see what you have signed up for on your individual program schedule screen. You will not receive an e-mail message.

What happens when a change occurs in a program in which you are enrolled?

Any change that is corrected on any program description will automatically generate an e-mail message to anyone presently included in that program enrollment. The e-mail message will explain the change(s). Participants for that program should then decide whether they are able to stay in the program or need to delete the program and/or select another program using the normal registration and deletion procedures.

What happens after I take the program?

The specialist, designated as the main instructor, will access a screen that shows the enrollment for the program. The instructor will enter an A ("attend") or N ("non-attend"), which basically tells DEDs and other administrators whether a participant attended the program or not.

Note: It is important that if you are not going to attend a program, you cancel in advance of the date.

Why is it important to keep this information in a database?

In-service participation information can be used when you are working on tenure, for evaluations, and for some reports. Saving this information in a database makes the information available to you at anytime you wish to pull it up to view. There will be no limit to the number of years that will be stored in the database.
