Instructions for Statewide Goal & Focus Area Teams

Text from the email message sent by Cheri Brodeur:

To all goal and Focus Leaders: I got lots of questions from the message I sent below so let me try to clarify and answer all of your questions in one email. Once you have been to the focus leader training, you should:

  1. identify 5-7 people ( no more than 10) to be on your team. TEAM LEADERS will select their team members. This team can include county and state faculty, industry and other stakeholders who you feel could make your team the most effective. We also have some outstanding doctoral students who are interested in serving on these focus teams and I should have a list of them midweek in case you want to add any of them to your teams. Most of these students will be around for the next two or three years and could be especially effective in helping to develop some of your team evaluation tools.
  2. Once you have identified people you'd like to have on your team, please, as a courtesy, run the list by your program leader. DEDs should also have an opportunity to see which county faculty are being considered. Give them a couple of days to reply.
  3. Contact prospective team members and form your teams. At this point I need to receive a final list of all your members. I need an email address and title for each if they aren't IFAS faculty. We will need this information for the goal/focus team website and list serves we will be developing for you.
  4. Once your team is formed: select a TEAM training date (see list of dates below) or contact me if none of these dates will work for your teams. We need the entire team together for the next training. There will be some interpersonal relationship training to enhance team dynamics as well as some training in exactly what the teams are suppose to accomplish over the next few months. You should also plan on spending time together that day after training to begin working on the first duties. Remember your team's first assignment is to work on the FAS2 situational statement, rationale, objectives etc. that were discussed briefly at focus leader training. We will go into much more detail on this atyour team's training meeting.

All of this needs to happen rather quickly so please make this a priority since the your FAS2 team information (rationale, objectives etc) needs to inputted by your team into the FAS2 software no later than mid January 2004.

You will be receiving more emails soon on the amount of funds you will have available for your focus team, and a projected time line of what to expect over the next year.

Remember that as Howard told you, nothing is in stone and we are looking for your feedback. If you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to email Howard Ladewig or me. We know this is all new and can be confusing so please don't hesitate to contact us on anything related to the goal/focus implementation process at any time....Regards..Cheri
